29, 2007 – Rochester, NY— After 30 hours and 29 minutes Brian
Johaniuk-Milliman was declared the winner of the 25th Annual Subaru
Touch-A-Thon, presented by ESL Federal Credit Union. Brian, a first
time Touch-a-Thon contestant, will drive away with a 2007 Subaru
Impreza Sedan, donated by Van Bortel Subaru.
Johaniuk-Milliman is a graduate assistant at SUNY Brockport where he
is working on a master’s degree in mathematics. He currently
resides in Brighton with his wife and family. Brian plans on giving
the new Subaru Impreza Sedan to his wife, Joanne.
Diane
Dawson, from Brighton, finished second in the contest. Diane
participated to honor her son, David, who has been facing the
challenges of kidney disease. This was Diane’s second Touch-A-Thon.
Third
place went to Henrietta native Yvonne Voll. Yvonne will graduate
this year from SUNY Brockport with a degree in Spanish. This was
Yvonne’s first Touch-A-Thon.
Kimberly Newark, an Optician from Sinclairville, NY placed fourth.
This was her second Touch-A-Thon after taking 2006 off from the
contest.
The
contest began on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. at
The Marketplace Mall and ended Sunday at 4:29 PM. All of the
proceeds from the event benefit the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)
of Upstate New York. Over the past 25 years, Touch-A-Thon has
raised upwards of a million dollars for kidney disease research,
education, and prevention programs, as well as, organ donor
awareness programs and services.
The
2007 Subaru Touch-A-Thon was presented by ESL Federal Credit Union
and sponsored by Van Bortel Subaru, Sam’s Club, the Vitamin and Card
Outlet, Postler and Jaeckle Corp., and Bank of America Private Bank;
with support from Time Warner Cable, WBEE, Ultra Print Corp., and
Delta Sonic.
