Patient Services

The National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York provides many programs and services to more than 1,500 patients each year. Our goal is to eradicate kidney disease, and to assists those who are coping with the effects of chronic kidney disease and their families.

Patient Events Patients enjoy coming together simply to have fun. The National Kidney Foundation provides many opportunities for that throughout the year including our annual winter party and summer picnic.

Educational Seminars The NKF offers several patient seminars every year. Check here for listings. Real Life Cooking Kidney Style in the spring and an additional seminar in the fall (topic is chosen by the patients)

Kidney Lift Transportation Program Kidney Lift provides rides to clients eligible for services through the National Kidney Foundation of Upstate New York who due to a lack of transportation would not be able to access kidney disease-related medical appointments within Monroe County. Kidney Kids Club The Kidney Kids Club allows children to meet and interact with others in similar situations (they or a family member are affected by kidney disease) and to teaches them about treating and preventing kidney problems. Several fun activities are planned during the year.

Medical ID Jewelry A medic alert bracelet or necklace is given to each patient. It immediately alerts medical providers to your condition in a crisis when the slightest delay could spell tragedy. Ask your Social Worker for details.

Emergency Discretionary Fund Patients can receive assistance from The National Kidney Foundation's Emergency Fund if approved by their Social Worker and the NKF Office. The fund is used for emergencies only. Ask your Social Worker for details.

Patient Scholarship This award is made possible by the family in memory of Joseph DiMartino, who was dedicated to the eradication of Kidney, Urologic and High Blood Pressure Diseases. Click here for more information.
