Internship Job Descriptions
Health Educator for Frontline Medical Providers
Majors – Health Education, Biology, Pre-Med, Public Health, Communications
- Educate medical professionals including physicians, nurses and physician assistants about the work of the NKF.
- Assist with the development of educational materials and a marketing plan to promote GFR reporting and other issues related to the detection, treatment and prevention of kidney disease.
- Visit Primary Care Physicians to distribute educational materials.
Intern must :
- work well independently as well as in a group
- be able to handle multiple tasks
- have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license

Health Fair Coordinator
Majors – Health Education, Biology, Pre-Med, Public Health, Communications
- Individual needed to take the lead role at health fairs for the NKF booth.
- Will be required to transport items for display at health fairs and ensure that information on kidney disease is distributed.
- Will also encourage other NKF booth volunteers to interact with health fair attendees.
Requirements :
- Friendly, cheerful, responsible and dependable
- 18 years of age or older,
- Good organizational, written and verbal skills Good
- Reliable transportation
- Required to stand 2-4 hours at a time
- Weekends and some weekdays required
- Must have an interest and ability to work with diverse group of people
- Required to distribute and discuss basic information on kidney disease
- Willingness to commute to various community settings – schools, community centers, libraries, playgrounds, churches, etc.

Education Program Assistant
Majors – Health Education, Biology, Pre-Med, Public Health, Communications
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services offered by the NKF
- Assist the Education Director in identifying educational opportunities in the community and developing community partnerships to support the NKF vision of being the recognized leader in kidney education, providing information and resources for prevention, treatment and organ donation for the public, patient and professional communities within our nine-county affiliate.

Kidney Car Marketing Assistant
Majors – Marketing, Management, Communications, Public Relations
- Develop creative marketing plan for promoting the Kidney Car Program in the nine county area covered by the NKF of Upstate New York.
- Analyze donor surveys to determine the effectiveness of current marketing campaign and identify the target population.
- Develop promotions with insurance companies, car dealerships, tax preparers etc.
- Assist in the production of radio and television commercials.
- Write newsletter articles, press releases and radio commercials.

- have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license

Special Events Assistant
Majors – Marketing, Management, Communications, Public Relations
- Assist Special Event Manager with the planning of various fundraising events such as Touch-A-Thon, Kidney Walk, Cadillac Invitational Golf Tournaments, Transplant Olympics and Wine Gala.
- Responsibilities may include designing postcards and invitations, coordinating mailings, assisting with event logistics such as location and refreshments, designing and distributing flyers and other advertising, coordinating volunteers and other duties as needed.
Intern must :

- be able to handle multiple tasks
- have excellent written and verbal communication skills
